Meet Our LHPH Family
Dr. Sharon Kensek graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. After graduation, she was an associate veterinarian in Richmond and Northern Virginia where her employers cautioned her to spend no more than 5 minutes with each appointment because any longer would not be “cost-effective” for their practice. That’s why Dr. Kensek decided to open Lee’s Hill Pet Hospital in 1999 so she could practice patient-focused medicine. She is actively involved in every aspect of the practice, from surgery suite to the appointment book. When she’s not at LHPH, Dr. Kensek enjoys one of her many hobbies, like hiking, bicycling, attending craft shows, and sharing good food with friends.
Dr. John Bond has been with us since September 2013. He is a native of Auburn, Alabama, is a graduate of Auburn University (BS, Botany; DVM) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (PhD, Toxicology). He has a special interest in veterinary pathology, toxicology, and wound management. He and his wife, Connie, have lived in Charlottesville since 2001. They have two children, David and Katie, and two cats, Sherman and Sheldon.
Karen Fassler is excited to have joined the Lee’s Hill Pet Hospital family in September 2022. She is passionate about high quality veterinary care and has a strong desire to help the staff to always learn more to through continuing education, “Lunch & Learns,” and hands on training.
After graduating college from Winthrop University, Karen has worked at several local animal hospitals during the past 2 decades. Initially starting as a receptionist/CSR (Customer Service Representative), to a veterinary assistant, to enrolling in Cedar Valley College’s online LVT program which furthered her education and skills in veterinary medicine. She spent the near past decade at the College of American Pathologists and is thrilled to be back in veterinary medicine.
Karen is also an avid cat lover and advocate. After volunteering for animal rescues and being the Vice President for 5 years, in 2015 she co-founded Purrs & Whiskers, Inc. Cat Rescue based in Stafford, VA where she serves as President and Medical Director. When she is not at LHPH you will find her working with the rescue kitties and helping them find their fur-ever loving homes. In addition to helping cats in the community, Karen also is a member of the Stafford Dog Club and helps with social & educational event planning and social media. When not volunteering with animals, Karen enjoys relaxing with her husband and their fur-babies: 6 cats, 1 dog, and a peaceful 300 gallon aquarium filled with many beautiful saltwater fish & anemones.
Cindy joined LHPH in January 2000 and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2018. She grew up with large and small animals and has always wanted to devote her life to helping pets live longer healthier lives through preventative medicine. Cindy enjoys dentistry and client education with a special interest in alternative therapies. She was born and raised in Spotsylvania County. When not at work she can be found hanging out with family both two and four legged! Her fur-family include Gonzo, an Australian Cattle Dog, and two miniature horses, Prince and Belle.
Danielle became a veterinary assistant in 2021. She enjoys learning solutions to ongoing problems and educating owners about their pets’ health. In her spare time she enjoys camping and hiking in the outdoors with her husband and Aussie, named Sadie. She grew a love for animals from a young age at an equine boarding facility owned by her parents in Idaho. Danielle is interested in furthering her knowledge in small animal medicine and wishes to transfer to large animal medicine in the future.
